PDAX, a local cryptocurrency exchange, predicts this event will usher in a new era of traders, echoing the 2021 surge in play-to-earn gaming that popularized crypto transactions among Filipinos.

Bitcoin halving, a quadrennial mechanism that reduces the rate at which new bitcoins are generated, is anticipated to significantly enhance the cryptocurrency’s value. This optimism is bolstered by the recent endorsement of bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States, further integrating digital assets into conventional financial systems.

Nichel Gaba, PDAX CEO, notes a substantial increase in transaction volumes on their platform, attributing this growth to the greater accessibility and public interest in cryptocurrency trading. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has facilitated this access by licensing several virtual asset service providers (VASP), enhancing the infrastructure for secure and regulated crypto transactions. Gaba advises prospective investors to adopt a strategy of cost-averaging, investing consistently over time to mitigate the risks associated with market fluctuations.
