Philippine Esports Team BREN Win Mobile Legends World Championship

The Filipino spirit lives on to win in every battle. 

This time in an epic battle of champions that competed in the 2nd Mobile Legends: Bang Bang‘s World Championship in Singapore.

Team BREN Esports had proved this mantra to win a new field of sports that gained global appreciation and acceptance amid this pandemic.

The 2nd Mobile Legends: Bang Bang‘s World Championship featured a whopping prize of $300,000 held in Singapore’s posh Shangrila Hotel, January 18-24, 2021.

BREN Esports was hailed as world champions after taking down the Burmese Ghouls 4-3 in the grand finals of the Mobile Legend: Bang Bang’s M2 participated by well-oiled teams from Burma, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Japan, and Cambodia.

Team BREN Esports, a brainchild of Bernard ‘Bren’ Chong of the famous World Balance brand was hailed by Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez who filed House Resolution No. 1524 citing BREN esports as the country’s newest sports star in an online gaming competition.

Rep. Torres-Gomez filed her resolution last Jan. 30, 2021.

Esports or competitive online gaming has been gaining popularity in an increasing number of countries.

It carries a lot of career opportunities and develops among its players’ athletic qualities of discipline, commitment, and professionalism.

With the temporary stoppage of most traditional athletic activities such as contact sports brought about by the pandemic and the increasing availability of online streaming media platforms, esports competitions have enjoyed phenomenal growth and promotion.

BREN Esports, according to the Torres-Gomez resolution, “is a premier Southeast Asian competitive gaming team based in the country.”

Team BREN esports extraordinary display of their grit and wit during the Singapore competition was a triumph like no other in spite of esports being a relatively new industry in the country.

The Filipino youth could now look forward to the possibility of exploring professional gaming as an alternative gainful career.
