The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) reported a 7% increase in motorcycle sales in 2024, marking the highest sales growth in over five years.
A total of 1,682,482 motorcycles were sold in 2024, surpassing previous years:
✅ 2023 – 1,577,597 units
✅ 2022 – 1,564,827 units
✅ 2021 – 1,435,677 units
The automatic category led the market, accounting for 64% of total sales, followed by the Business Unit (BU) category at 16%.
MDPPA president Alex Cumpas highlighted that the Philippines outperformed its ASEAN neighbors, with Indonesia and Malaysia only recording 2% growth.
“Despite ongoing challenges, this 7% growth is the highest in the region. We hope to surpass the golden years of 2019 when sales hit 1.7 million units.”
Cumpas attributed the sales boom to:
📌 Upcoming 2025 elections
📌 Favorable economic conditions
📌 Government support through motorcycle-friendly legislation
He emphasized that the industry remains focused on safety, innovation, and sustainability, with hopes of surpassing 2019’s record sales in 2025.
