The National Dairy Authority (NDA) said the Philippines seeks technical support from France to implement its dairy project in Bohol next year.
NDA administrator Farrel Benjelix Magtoto proposed the OneDAiry Hills project to French delegates, accompanied by French Ambassador Michèle Boccoz.
The pitch is to obtain experts and heifers that could withstand tropical temperatures for the project to be implemented by 2023.
The OneDAiry Hills project aims to put up a nucleus farm in Bohol and produce tropically adapted heifers that can be utilized by the NDA and farmers’ cooperatives and associations.
It will also build training centers for the capacity building of managers and personnel, among others.
In April 2022, the NDA and the French delegates went to the NDA dairy multiplier farm and milk processing plant in Bohol for an introductory meeting and initial assessment of the project site.
In a meeting with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Boccoz said the French government is committed to helping the Philippines through farm mechanization, development of the dairy industry, irrigation, and agricultural insurance as possible areas for collaboration.
