Major telecommunications company PLDT is looking to boost its support for the country’s developing startup community following its partnership with ThingsPH — an Internet-of-Things (IoT) platform and solutions provider. A memorandum of understanding has recently been signed between the two companies to promote, develop, and help the IoT ecosystem by providing businesses with access and deploying IoT solutions.
“We’ve seen the potential of startups in the country and we continuously recognize their drive and dedication to solve problems in our society that might just be game-changing innovation our country needs,” explained Melvin Jeffrey Chan, PLDT Vice President and head of Enterprise Innovations and IoT Business Development.
Chan further elaborated that attention is currently aimed at startups that pursue emerging technologies including IoT, artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, hyper-automation, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance). “We at the PLDT Group are excited in working with ThingsPh on the projects and services that we could develop out of this partnership.”
Through its unified artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (AIoT) platform and applications, ThingsPH assists its clients in gathering real-time data, analytics, and alerts to determine occurrences in sites and offices. Its platform boasts the capability to easily integrate and work together with various systems.
The local startup community has regarded the PLDT group to be a valued supporter and partner. The major telco company recognizes the potential marketability of top startups and awards them with capital funding, IT and connectivity support, intensive training, as well as client networking. It likewise has the PLDT Enterprise’s Innovation Lab and Ecosystem Partnership, which is dedicated to searching for startup partners to collaborate with and support.
“We hope to elevate our local startups with these kinds of opportunities that are mutually beneficial to all, which ultimately provide customers improved services and better experience out of such partnerships,” affirmed Dara Ever Juan, PLDT Innovation Lab, and Ecosystem Partnerships head.
