According to a recent announcement by the Department of Education (DepEd), the World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB) has been approved for release by President Duterte.
For this year, the WTDIB is projected to reach a total amount of ₱910 million to be disbursed to public school teachers who will each be receiving ₱1,000. This is part of the government’s dedication to “faithfully support our teachers for their dedication in delivering quality education.”
“With the ongoing preparations for School Year 2021-2022, we are grateful to our 900,000-strong teachers who have displayed their unwavering passion to serve and educate the Filipino youth,” said the DepEd.
“We shall issue the corresponding guidelines on the grant of the said incentive soon.”
The WTDIB grant acknowledges the crucial role that educators play in ensuring the continuity of learning, particularly within the context of the global pandemic.
World Teacher’s Day (WTD) is an annual international event held every October 5. In the Philippines, however, educators are celebrated through a month-long commemoration known as National Teachers’ Month (NTM). This is runs from September 5 to October 5.
