Pump Price Rollback Set for Tuesday, January 28

Pump prices of petroleum products are set to decrease on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, though the reduction will not be enough to fully offset the increases implemented over the past three weeks.

Price Rollback Details

According to advisories from Seaoil Philippines Corp. and Shell Pilipinas Corp., the following price reductions will take effect:

  • Gasoline: ₱0.80 per liter
  • Diesel: ₱0.20 per liter
  • Kerosene: ₱0.50 per liter

Cleanfuel will implement the same adjustments for gasoline and diesel but does not carry kerosene. These changes will take effect at:

  • 6:00 a.m. for most firms
  • 8:01 a.m. for Cleanfuel

Other oil firms have yet to announce their adjustments for the week.

Recent Trends in Fuel Prices

Last Tuesday, January 21, retailers increased prices by:

  • ₱1.65 per liter for gasoline
  • ₱2.70 per liter for diesel
  • ₱2.50 per liter for kerosene

These hikes brought year-to-date net increases to:

  • ₱3.45 per liter for gasoline
  • ₱5.00 per liter for diesel
  • ₱4.30 per liter for kerosene

Factors Behind the Rollback

The Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) attributed the rollback to factors such as the reopening of refineries and ports in the U.S. Gulf Coast and proposed tariffs by U.S. President Donald Trump.

While the rollback provides slight relief, the recent series of hikes continues to weigh heavily on consumers.
