Quezon City to Resume Ban on Plastic Bags on March 1

Quezon City will resume its implementation of the city-wide ban on plastic bags and single-use plastics through City Ordinance 2868-2019 and 2876-2019.

The ban prohibits retailers such as shopping malls, supermarkets, fast-food chains, food stalls, restaurants, pharmacies, and wet and dry markets, from using and distributing plastic bags.

Failure to comply will result in penalties as follows:

1st Offense: ₱1,000 fine

2nd Offense: ₱3,000 fine and revocation of environmental clearance and issuance of cease and desist order by the Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD)

3rd Offense: ₱5,000 fine and revocation of the Business Permit and issuance of the closure order
