RCBC Director and Former CEO Gil Buenaventura Passes Away

Veteran banker Gil Buenaventura has passed away, according to an official announcement from Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) on Monday.

The news was disclosed in a regulatory filing by RCBC, where Buenaventura most recently served as a director. He previously held the role of president and chief executive officer of the bank. Details regarding his passing were not immediately released.

Buenaventura’s distinguished banking career included leading roles across several top Philippine financial institutions. He served as president and CEO of the state-run Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), and also held senior positions at the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), including senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was previously president of Prudential Bank before it was acquired by BPI in 2005.

An accomplished professional, Buenaventura earned his degree in economics from the University of San Francisco in 1973 and completed his MBA at the University of Wisconsin in 1975.
