Rice Prices Expected to Drop to ₱45/Kilo by March 31 – Palace

Malacañang announced on Wednesday that the price of rice is expected to drop to ₱45 per kilo by March 31, 2025, following a decline in global rice prices.

At a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said that the current average price of rice at ₱49 per kilo is anticipated to decrease due to falling international rice prices.

“Secretary [Francisco] Laurel said that the world price of rice has dropped significantly. Before, it was at $700 to $740 per ton, but now it has decreased to around $380 to $400 per ton. This is one of the main reasons behind the expected price reduction,” Castro explained.

Lower Pork Prices Also Expected

In addition to rice, pork prices are also projected to decrease by March 10:

🔹 Kasim & Pigue: ₱350 – ₱360 per kilo
🔹 Liempo: ₱380 per kilo

The Department of Agriculture (DA) said these reductions are due to improving local supply and lower global prices.

With these price adjustments, the government aims to ease the financial burden on Filipino consumers.
