MANILA — The Philippine employment rate saw a positive shift in August, reaching 96%, largely driven by an influx of women joining the workforce. According to the latest Labor Force Survey from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the number of employed individuals increased to 49.15 million from 47 million in July, while the unemployment rate dropped from 4.7% to 4%.
National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa highlighted that female workers played a significant role in this improvement, as many women entered the labor force and found employment. This increase reflects ongoing efforts to boost labor force participation among women and indicates a positive trend for the country’s labor market.
