The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines has issued an advisory to consumers to be vigilant about the safety marks on firecrackers, especially as the New Year’s Eve celebrations approach. Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles highlighted that DTI’s recent inspections in Bocaue, Bulacan led to the confiscation of 1,543 firecrackers with illegal or unauthorized PS (Philippine Standard) marks.
She emphasized the importance of checking for the PS mark on firecrackers, which should feature a globe in its logo and a license number, ensuring that the products are registered with the DTI and meet safety standards. This measure is part of DTI’s efforts to ensure consumer safety and prevent accidents during the festive season.
