SEC Receives Recognition From UN

The Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reported that they have been given recognition from  United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for advocating for sustainable development goals reporting and sustainability in the Philippines.

The SEC was given “ISAR Honours 2022” in the national category conducted in Geneva at the Palais des Nations. The SEC beat 45 other organizations from other countries.

In the past, the SEC was given the International Standards of Accounting and Reporting Honours 2019 for pushing for sustainability and SDG reporting with compelling publicly-listed companies to submit sustainability reports each year.

The ISAR Honours recognizes laws and institutional and capacity-building initiatives accessible at the domestic and international levels, that help and support initiatives of the private sector to improve the quality and comparability of companies reporting on their input to the  2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“I would like to thank the organizers of ISAR Honours and accept this year’s award wholeheartedly with the hope that other jurisdictions will be inspired to immediately adopt or to continue to carry out fully their sustainable practices,” mentioned SEC Chairman Emilio B., Aquino

UNCTAD gave recognition to partnerships, seminars, training, and workshops arranged by SEC to promote awareness, advance knowledge, and capacity building for sustainability, and SDG reporting in the corporate sector of the Philippines, after the issuance of the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines for Publicly Listed Companies through Memorandum Circular 4 (Series of 2019).

During the pandemic, the SEC held training and workshops online with the participation of resource persons from different organizations.
