Singapore Firms Keen to Expand in Philippines, Says PM Wong

Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has voiced strong confidence in the Philippine economy, noting that Singapore-based companies are increasingly interested in expanding their investments in the country.

In a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Malacañang Palace, Wong praised the dynamic nature of the Philippine market. “Singapore businesses continue to see strong potential in the Philippines. We’re already among the top foreign investors, and we believe there’s even more room for growth,” he said.

Wong highlighted growing interest in collaborating on sustainability and the green economy—emerging areas where both countries can align efforts. He described the bilateral relationship as vibrant and strengthening each year.

President Marcos acknowledged the enduring partnership between the Philippines and Singapore, which has flourished over the past 56 years. He emphasized the importance of pushing forward strategic priorities in sectors like health, renewable energy, environmental protection, and humanitarian cooperation.

“These are key areas for our development and for ensuring regional resilience in today’s complex global environment,” Marcos said.
