Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has been declared the Philippines’ fastest mobile network for the third year in a row by top internet metrics company Ookla.
Ookla awarded Smart as the Speedtest Awards Winner in Q3-Q4 2020 with a Speed Score of 24.99 with average download speeds of 20.08 Mbps, and average upload speeds of 7.42 Mbps.
Opensignal, another independent metrics company, has Smart beating out Globe in all seven of its report categories: video, games, voice app, download speed, upload speed, 4G availability, and 4G coverage experiences. Last year, Smart won in five categories and tied with Globe in one.
Opensignal’s report also shows an upward trend in mobile networks in the country in general: Smart’s Download Speed Experience score rose from 11.4 Mbps to 14.8 Mbps, a rise of 3.4 Mbps (29.5%), while Globe’s score rose by 1.2 Mbps (16.4%) — from 7.4 Mbps to 8.6 Mbps.
