On Monday, the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) announced the opening of the Quirino southbound exit. This is the newest exit of its Skyway Stage 3 Project, which is now accessible to Class 1 vehicles.
The opening will enable motorists to enjoy within or less than a 20-minute travel time from Balintawak and Quezon Avenue to Manila without traffic said SMC in an advisory.
“The opening of the Quirino southbound exit will greatly improve accessibility from Quezon City and Manila,” said SMC President and COO Ramon Ang.
“With more private vehicles diverted to Skyway Stage 3 on their way back from NLEX, or coming from Quezon Avenue to Manila, traffic on our major public roads as well as on streets usually utilized as ‘short cuts’ or ‘alternate routes’ will be a thing of the past,” explained Ang.
With this new addition, the number of operational ramps of the Skyway Stage 3 has been increased to 15.
“This will redound to relief from congestion and faster and easier commutes for many of our countrymen on our major thoroughfares,” Ang added.
SMC partially opened the 18.83-kilometer project to motorists in January. Since its opening, motorists have also been able to enjoy toll-free access which is expected to continue until further notice.
