SMC Plans Skyway Bus System for the Benefit of Commuters

According to Ramon Ang, a bus rapid transit system or a high-capacity point-to-point bus system is being considered for operation on San Miguel Corp’s Skyway toll road system between Susana Heights and Balintawak.

“This has been our plan all along – for all our elevated expressways to directly benefit not just private motorists but mostly our commuters as well,” said Ang.

The primary purpose of elevated toll roads is to ease traffic by diverting vehicles from public roads, but “a bus-based transit system will further maximize the benefits to the public and make commutes faster, easier, safer and more convenient for many,” Ang explained further.

“Those who drive daily may even opt to commute, further easing traffic and reducing pollution,” he added.

Provisional toll rates for the firm’s Skyway Stage 3 Project were already approved by toll regulators over the previous month. In February, SMC also announced that its MRT-7 Project was halfway to completion, and is set to open in December 2022.
