Spectrum, Manila Electric Co.’s renewable energy subsidiary, has energized a solar farm in Maynilad’s La Mesa pumping station.

The solar farm is composed of 2,592 pieces of 390W Sunpower solar panels laid out over approximately 8,250 square meters of land and is estimated to generate 1,324,512 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per annum and reduce its carbon footprint by 850,000 kilograms.

The firm said Thursday that the solar farm will enable the pumping station to generate clean energy for its own use.

“As part of our commitment to creating a more sustainable future through renewable energy, we are proud to have worked with Maynilad in powering the La Mesa Pumping Station,” said Marlon T. Pereja, Spectrum Chief Operating Officer Robert.

Spectrum is also providing power to the City of Dreams (CoD), International Rice Research Institute, and Cagbalete solar farms.

In January 2020, Spectrum helped set up a 76-million solar power project for CoD Manila, the country’s first integrated resort to harness solar energy. The project’s capacity is 1,200kW composed of 3,120 solar PV panels and was installed on a 6,436 square meter area across two buildings within the development.

The CoD solar project can generate power of up to 1,730,000 kWh annually, equivalent to 923,820 kilograms of carbon footprint reduction, and is enough to power almost 1,000 households every year.

Spectrum is looking to expand its network and secure more deals from the residential and commercial sectors.
