The Social Security System (SSS) is extending calamity loans to its members affected by Super Typhoon Carina in the National Capital Region and other declared calamity areas.
SSS president and CEO Rolando Ledesma Macasaet announced that members in these typhoon-stricken areas may borrow up to their one-month salary credit or a maximum of P20,000.
“SSS will always be ready to assist our members in typhoon-affected areas. We want to assure them that in times of calamities, they can rely on SSS to provide them the needed financial assistance as they recover from Typhoon Carina,” Macasaet stated.
Members can apply for the calamity loan through their My.SSS account at www.sss.gov.ph. Once approved, the loan proceeds will be credited to the member’s registered Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID)-ATM Card or active accounts with a PESONet participating bank.
The calamity loan is payable over two years, or 24 equal monthly installments, with an annual interest rate of 10%.
“We hope that through the calamity loan assistance, we can help our members recover and rebuild after the devastating impact of Typhoon Carina,” Macasaet added.
