The Owl Duo: Sticking with Sisters

Sharing a love for arts, sisters Priscilla and Sarah Cheung both have similar hobbies and interests. This shared affinity for arts eventually blossomed into a collaboration that would bank on their creative sides.

The sisters have been talking about opening their art shop for years but have always found themselves busy and had difficulty beginning this project.

But then the pandemic happened and allowed the sisters to slow down, reflect, return to the idea, and push thru with setting up their shop.

“Led by our passion for design, we launched an online shop with a collection of all things stationery—stickers, postcards, bookmarks, notebooks, and more!” shared the sisters.

They decided to name themselves “The Owl Duo” as they strive to embody the qualities usually associated with owls such as hope and wisdom.

At the very heart of their passion project is “to create quirky paper goods & lifestyle pieces that inspire, shed lights amidst challenging times and create positive impact.”

Two years into their shop, they expanded their merchandise. From selling only stationery products in the beginning, they have expanded to include tote bags, button pins, acrylic keyrings, patches, and pouches.

Aside from their ready-to-ship products, the pair dedicates a certain number of slots at the end of each month for commissioned pieces as they are currently building their portfolio for branding work.

“It has been an exciting process but it’s not without fear. This project is our mustard seed journey. We had questions such as, “Will we make it? Can we commit to this? Are we good enough? Is now a good time?” but we’re choosing to just start. We’ve decided to plant a seed of faith and hopefully, watch it grow into something beautiful.” said the sisters.

Despite the sisters having their work outside of their passion projects, “Nothing can match seeing the kilig, smiles, and joy of people buying and using our products.”

“It can be tiring and draining but at the same time, the best part is always seeing how our merch can make an impact in people’s lives.”

A huge part of The Owl Duo’s mission is to join more fundraisers to benefit the community. “We hope to be able to continue this initiative and find more ways to create a positive impact through our art”
