TikTok, among the most prominent video-sharing platforms online, is looking to provide a new feature for its users. This will very much be identical to the vanishing clips element found on Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram. A few pilot tests have since been started.
Essentially, TikTok Stories will enable users to post content on their accounts. The photos or videos will then expire 24 hours after they were put up. The addition of this feature comes after WhatsApp recently introduced a similar function on their platform.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” explained TikTok. “Currently we’re experimenting with ways to give creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community.”
Under TikTok Stories, there will be a “view once” option which immediately deletes the post after a recipient or follower opens it for the first time.
In March, Twitter also launched the same avenue for its content creators through its Fleets feature. However, it was discontinued on August 3 — just eight months later — after its popularity didn’t meet the expectations that the company had set.
