Syngenta Philippines’ Alika 247 ZC and Match 050 EC have been given conditional registration by the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority and may now be applied to crops via drone. The former is an insecticide specially formulated to control rice bugs while the latter protects corn crops from the fall armyworm.
Ease of access to this information will help farmers improve plans for their farms ahead of and during the planting season by making the necessary preparations or changes to their fertilizer application, choice of crop protection product, product dosage, and timing of application.
Syngenta plans to add more to its fleet and looks forward to regulatory approval for the drone application of more Syngenta products.
Syngenta’s Agronomy and Technical Services team has members trained to use the drones and is working on completing their licensure.
Drone application is seen by the company as a significant milestone as they continue to strive for more innovative technologies for farmers and sustainable agriculture.
