US energy firm EoS Organization is bolstering the Philippines’ push for civil nuclear energy by investing in education, research, and workforce training. The initiative was formalized through memoranda of understanding (MOUs) signed Friday with Fulbright Philippines and Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).
With Fulbright Philippines, EoS will support fellowships, specialized training, and academic exchanges aimed at developing the next generation of Filipino nuclear professionals. The partnership includes up to $400,000 in funding to fast-track nuclear education and expertise in the country.
Fulbright Executive Director Julio Amador III highlighted the initiative as a crucial step for both economic security and knowledge sharing between the US and the Philippines. EoS CEO Aaron Green added, “We are ensuring Filipino students lead in nuclear innovation.”
Meanwhile, EoS’ collaboration with MSU-IIT focuses on curriculum development and integrating research programs with the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute’s (PNRI) Coordinated Research Project. MSU-IIT Chancellor Alizedney Ditucalan called it a milestone in expanding academic pathways in nuclear engineering.
US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson hailed the MOUs as a direct result of the US-Philippines “123 Agreement” signed in 2023. The accord provides the legal framework for civil nuclear cooperation, including the export of nuclear technology and materials to the Philippines.
“These partnerships demonstrate the US private sector’s strong interest in helping the Philippines build a clean and secure energy future,” said Carlson.
