UST’s Paskuhan 2023: A Glittering Blend of Tradition and Celebration in Manila

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila recently became a hub of festive cheer with its celebrated Paskuhan 2023 event. This annual gathering, a cherished tradition since 1991, signals the start of the Christmas break for the university. This year’s event, marked as “very special” by UST’s Communications Bureau Director Philippe Jose Hernandez, was a significant moment, celebrating the university’s recent achievements.

A blend of past and present students, staff, and alumni came together on the historic España Boulevard campus for the Paskuhan celebration. Described by Hernandez as a Christmas party with a homecoming flavor, expectations were set high for a larger turnout of Thomasians compared to the previous year. The 2019 event had already set a remarkable precedent, attracting over 100,000 guests.

Paskuhan 2023 was not just a gathering but a showcase of talent and joy. The event featured an impressive lineup of big bands and artists from the Philippines, along with performances from the university’s own talented individuals. The night culminated in a grand fireworks display, illuminating the Manila sky and marking a fitting end to the month-long Christmas celebration at UST.

This year’s Paskuhan not only offered a platform for reconnecting and celebration but also served as a testament to the university’s enduring spirit and community bond. It was more than just an event; it was a vivid expression of UST’s rich cultural heritage and its commitment to nurturing a sense of unity and pride among its community.
