A symbolic immunization is set to take place during the upcoming celebration of Labor Day, where over 5,000 vaccine doses have been reserved for economic frontliners. This will mark the beginning of the inclusion of those under the A4 category in the ongoing national vaccination rollout program.
Earlier, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) requested vaccines to be used for minimum wage earners and overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). This request was recently approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on Tuesday.
“The DOLE has been directed to create a master list to ensure the equitable representation of the labor sector during the said ceremony,” said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
The symbolic inoculation will be held in Manila. Talks between the DOLE and Manila’s local government units are already underway in preparation for May 1.
Among those under the government’s vaccination priority framework, Covid-19 vaccines have already been deployed for health care workers (A1), senior citizens aged 60 and above (A2), and people with co-morbidities (A3).
