In preparation for a travel rebound, the Philippine unit of AirAsia is aiming to vaccinate over 1,500 of its Filipino employees beginning in May.
AirAisa Philippines said it has already secured Covid-19 vaccines to immunize its employees as the airline carrier maintains its enthusiasm that air travel will return to some degree of normalcy soon.
“AirAsia recognizes that the aviation sector plays a critical role as economic and tourism drivers, and we know that getting the COVID-19 vaccine is the next necessary phase of recovery,” AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said on Sunday.
No particular brand of the vaccine was mentioned, but the carrier did note that it partnered with government agencies and private entities to secure the vaccines.
A priority list for its employees has already been identified by the airlines. The list includes ground staff, pilots, cabin crew, and other employees who come in direct contact with guests.
Various companies in the Philippines have also been seen going down the same route of securing vaccine deals to provide their employees with free vaccinations.
