VinFast VF5: Vietnam’s Bold EV Entry in the Philippine Market

MANILA – VinFast, Vietnam’s homegrown EV brand, is making a bold entry into the Philippine electric vehicle (EV) market with the VF5, a subcompact hatchback designed for urban driving and affordability.

Performance and Features

The VF5 boasts:

  • 135 horsepower with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 10.9 seconds
  • 17-inch alloy wheels and 168mm ground clearance
  • Blind-spot monitoring and six airbags for safety
  • Energy efficiency, consuming just 6% of battery from Quezon City to Mall of Asia

The dashboard and infotainment system are angled toward the driver, and upon startup, the car even greets you in Vietnamese.

Battery Subscription Model

One of the VF5’s standout features is its battery subscription option:

  • P1,050,000 – Includes battery (no subscription required)
  • P880,000 – Lower price with a P5,800/month battery subscription, covering 1,500 km per month (50 km per day)

The subscription model ensures battery maintenance and replacement, easing concerns about EV battery lifespan. Additionally, the VF5 comes with a 7-10 year warranty (or up to 200,000 km), guaranteeing a battery replacement if capacity drops below 70%.

With a competitive price and flexible battery options, the VinFast VF5 is a strong contender in the growing Philippine EV market.
