Web Tips: Fundamentals First

Dear entrepreneurs,

This is on behalf of every IT Business Analyst. If you’re starting a business (e.g. an e-commerce business) that requires owning a website or app, you’d be tempted to put the website or app as a priority.

As a business analyst and developer, I’ve been contacted for jobs where clients had built their website or mobile app and we’re looking for strategies to build and market the business.

This does not work.

Build the business strategies first. Know your market and your audience, know what they want, where to find them, know your competitors and what they do, the kind of technology they use, etc.

Design is the intermediary between information and understanding. What then are you designing if you do not have information or understanding? ​
