MANILA, Philippines — Aggressively scaling its international footprint to dominate the highly lucrative transpacific market, the country’s flag carrier has reached a new operational milestone. Philippine Airlines (PAL) has taken formal delivery of its second Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft.
Registered locally as RP-C3511, the brand-new flagship jet touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila at 5:18 PM on Friday, May 29, completing its cross-continental delivery flight directly from the Airbus assembly facility in Toulouse, France.
The arrival represents the second piece of a larger, long-term capital deployment program directed by the Lucio Tan-led aviation group. PAL remains the first and only commercial carrier in Southeast Asia to operate this ultra-long-range variant:

The incoming A350-1000 fleet is systematically tasked with replacing PAL’s aging Boeing 777-300ER widebodies. By integrating these next-generation hulls, the carrier holds options for three additional aircraft, potentially bringing the flagship fleet to twelve total units by the end of the decade.
The deployment of these highly efficient twin-engine widebodies is tied directly to PAL’s strategy to maintain its market edge as the only Philippine carrier offering non-stop flights to North America.
