PASIG CITY, Philippines — In a major expansion of its educational footprint, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) officially announced on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, that it has secured a 15-hectare property in Silang, Cavite, for its newest satellite campus.
The acquisition was finalized through a long-term partnership with real estate developer Cathay Land Inc., marking a significant move for the university as it looks to serve the rapidly growing residential and industrial hubs south of Metro Manila.
The future campus will be situated within the Mallorca City township, a mixed-use development designed to integrate residential, commercial, and institutional spaces.
- Strategic Location: The site is positioned near the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Silang East Interchange, making it accessible to students from Cavite, Laguna, and southern Metro Manila.
- The “Blue Eagle” Expansion: This marks Ateneo’s first full-scale campus in the CALABARZON region, complementing its existing presence in Quezon City, Makati, Pasig, and Cebu.
- Initial Offerings: While the master plan is still being finalized, the university plans to initially offer undergraduate programs focused on business, sustainable technology, and professional continuing education.
University President Fr. Roberto C. Yap, SJ, emphasized that the Cavite campus will be built with a “green and sustainable” philosophy, aligning with the university’s Laudato Si’ goals.
- Eco-Friendly Design: The campus will prioritize open spaces, natural ventilation, and renewable energy integration.
- Industry Synergy: Its proximity to the industrial zones of Cavite and Laguna provides opportunities for research partnerships and internships with multinational manufacturing and tech firms.
- Community Impact: The expansion is expected to drive economic activity in Silang, with the university serving as an “anchor institution” for the emerging township.
Cathay Land President Jeffrey Ng expressed pride in welcoming Ateneo to their development, noting that the presence of a prestigious institution like ADMU will significantly enhance the value and prestige of the Silang-Sta. Rosa corridor.
- Groundbreaking: Preliminary site preparation is scheduled to begin in early 2027.
- Completion Target: The first phase of the campus, including the primary administrative and classroom buildings, is expected to be operational by the academic year 2029-2030.
- Complementary Growth: The move follows a trend of “educational migration” to the South, where other major universities like DLSU (Biñan) and UST (Santa Rosa) have already established satellite campuses.
“Our expansion into Cavite is not just about physical growth, but about bringing the Jesuit mission of excellence and service to a region that is becoming the new heart of Philippine industry and innovation.” — Fr. Roberto C. Yap, SJ, ADMU President.
