Bangsamoro Airways Takes Off: New Airline to Serve BARMM Starting April 24

In an exciting development for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), a new airline, Bangsamoro Airways, is set to launch its services starting Wednesday, April 24. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity within the region, linking mainland BARMM to its island provinces and thereby facilitating better access to essential services, as well as boosting bureaucracy, logistics, the local economy, tourism, and employment opportunities.

Operated by Federal Airways Incorporated, Bangsamoro Airways will initially serve routes between Zamboanga City and Sulu, with plans to expand operations to include two Tawi-Tawi municipalities, Sibutu and Mapun, within three months. The airline also has aspirations to extend its services internationally to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, by next year.

The airline will start with a modest capacity, accommodating between six to ten passengers per flight, including the aviators. This limited capacity aims to ensure personalized and efficient service as the airline begins to establish its operations and customer base.

Mohammad Pasigan, chairperson of the Bangsamoro Board of Investments, expressed optimism about the airline’s potential to attract more investors to BARMM. He emphasized the critical role of maintaining peace and order in the region as a fundamental element in fostering a conducive environment for investment and development.

With the inauguration of Bangsamoro Airways, stakeholders are hopeful that it will not only enhance the travel logistics within BARMM but also stimulate economic growth by attracting more business activities and tourism into the region.
