Fuel Prices Update: Local Pump Prices Ease for Third Straight Week

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino motorists can expect a slight reprieve at the pump as domestic fuel prices are set to decrease for the third consecutive week. According to industry estimates released on Monday, May 11, 2026, the rollback follows a downward trend in the international oil market, though analysts warn that global “geopolitical uncertainty” continues to cloud the long-term outlook.

Effective Tuesday morning, May 12, 2026, major oil firms are expected to implement the following price adjustments:

The following figures represent the projected price movements based on the four-day trading average of the Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS):

Fuel TypeEstimated Adjustment
Gasoline₱0.40 – ₱0.60 per liter (DECREASE)
Diesel₱0.60 – ₱0.80 per liter (DECREASE)
Kerosene₱0.80 – ₱1.00 per liter (DECREASE)

The current easing of local prices is primarily attributed to two factors:

  1. Rising U.S. Stockpiles: Higher-than-expected crude oil inventories in the United States have signaled a temporary supply surplus, putting downward pressure on global benchmarks like Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI).
  2. Economic Indicators: Weaker-than-anticipated manufacturing data from major global economies has raised concerns about a potential slowdown in fuel demand.

Despite the three-week streak of rollbacks, energy experts suggest that the trend remains fragile. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary Rodela Romero noted that several “wildcard” factors could trigger a sudden reversal in the coming weeks:

  • Middle East Tensions: Ongoing instability in key oil-producing regions remains the primary driver of market volatility. Any escalation could immediately disrupt shipping lanes and supply chains.
  • OPEC+ Decisions: Market participants are closely watching the upcoming OPEC+ meeting, where member nations will decide whether to extend voluntary production cuts into the second half of 2026.
  • Philippine Peso Strength: While international prices have eased, the slight depreciation of the Peso against the US Dollar has partially offset the potential for a larger rollback in the local market.

As of the latest monitoring on May 12, 2026, the cumulative net adjustments for the year stand at:

  • Gasoline: Net increase of ₱7.15 per liter
  • Diesel: Net increase of ₱4.35 per liter
  • Kerosene: Net decrease of ₱0.20 per liter

While the rollbacks provide temporary relief, the DOE continues to urge the public to practice fuel-efficient driving habits and to utilize fuel discount apps and loyalty programs offered by various retail stations to maximize savings.
