The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has partnered with the Taguig City government and the Department of Education (DepEd) to repurpose a parcel of city land into new school and community facilities, officials announced this week.
Under a memorandum of agreement signed in December 2025, BCDA was granted usufruct rights over a 1,110-square-meter site in the Pamayanang Diego Silang area. The land, currently under the supervision of a local science and technology high school, was originally planned for a sports complex but will now be redeveloped to house facilities that directly benefit students and neighborhood residents.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang said the initiative reflects the agency’s expanding role in supporting human capital development alongside its core infrastructure work. He highlighted the authority’s track record in education-related projects, noting that the Taguig collaboration extends these efforts into a more urban setting.
Taguig Mayor Laarni Cayetano also praised the project, saying it strengthens the city’s education agenda while ensuring that public land delivers tangible benefits for the community. She emphasized that the new facilities will serve as accessible and inclusive spaces for learning and community activities.
City officials say the project is expected to support students and families in the area by providing much-needed educational and communal spaces, aligning local land use with long-term social development goals.
